Dude, it's the 23rd

Where had January gone? I mean, seriously. Where has the month gone? It's seriously went poof!

Okay, so, what have I been up to? I would like to report that history was actually interesting yesterday. Okay, so first of all, I need to describe Dr. Cooper for you. He is truly your typical, run-of-the-mill history professor. Round face, square glasses, always playing with his hair, obscure tangents, shirt never tucked in, plaid colored shirts, semi-interesting and dry all at once...you can picture this prof can't you? Well, so randomly in the middle of his lecture PowerPoint (we talking about the Celts), he sticks in the "Modern Celtic Invasion" with a picture of Paul McCartney and Enya. We got a good laugh. I, unfortunately, showed my freakish streak and when we continued to talk about the Celts, we got into a Star Trek discussion, and I was quoting with all the Trekkies. Sadness for me. But it's okay. I know the truth, I know I'm not one of them. We also got off on a Ben-Hur tangent and how much the book sucks and how great the movie is. Anyway...entertaining.

I get to go represent the Biblical Hebrew class on Thursday to this council checking our program. I get to say how much I love that class, eat pizza, say how awesome we are, say that we learn tons of stuff. Really exciting stuff.

Oh, yeah, did I mention Cambridge? Don't think I did...if I did, blame short term memory loss. Last week I applied to a study abroad in Cambridge. Not just any study abroad, mind you, one actually sponsored by Cambridge. Well, it's a summer program they run at Kings and Pembroke in which they invite certain US schools to send students over. Most of these schools are the Ivy League, for obvious reasons. Those that aren't are Cal, UC Santa Barbara, UC Irvine, UC Riverside, and (are you ready?) BYU. However, we're the new kids on the block, still kinda on tenure, so we don't send very many students. Anyway, I went and talked tot he advisor a little over a week ago and I truly impressed him.l Not really sure how, but he was amazed by my knowledge of the European university system and just how interested I was in the program. He invited me to the application meeting and then asked me to get my app done for the first wave to send to the UK last week. Now, my hopes aren't up; my grades are less than beautiful and I'm competing with Ivy League kids and BYU honors kids with 4.0s. But, Dr. Kerry liked me enough that he figured it could get written off in the letter of recommendation which he would writing for me. It would be so cool...classes at Cambridge by Cambridge professors, free Fridays-Sundays, side trips to Bath and Edinburgh, chance to travel all over Europe (Cambridge airport is CHEAP!), Paris two hours by Chunnel, London right there, and dude, it's England! So, here's hoping.

Life around the apartment has been...interesting. The stories certainly racked up this weekend. Seriously, all you have to do is mention the boot around our apartment and we both die of laughter. Perhaps I will share that story with you another time. =P bwahaha
